Don, starring Siva Karthikeyan, had a strong opening day at the box office, grossing around Rs. 9.25 crores. This includes around Rs. 7.75-8 crores from Tamil Nadu, which is the second-highest opening day figure for a Siva starrer, trailing only his 2018 movie Seemaraja. Don had the fourth biggest first-day box office receipts in Tamil Nadu this year, after Beast, Valimai, and RRR.

The picture outperformed Siva's last movie Doctor, which had a 50 percent capacity limitation owing to CoVID, which reduced its performance in metropolitan areas, and debuted at Rs. 7.30 crores on a Saturday. The major distinction between Don and Doctor was found in the three metropolitan centres of Chennai, Coimbatore, and Trichy, whereas the rest of the country was mostly over/under. For Don, Chennai city held a lead of Rs. 40 lakhs over Doctor.

Initial audience reactions to the film have been good. Pre-sales for the second day are good, and if walk-ins go as planned, business in Tamil Nadu might expand on Saturday. Second-day increase for major films is highly unusual in the southern United States; if that is the case for this picture, it will be quite amazing. In Tamil Nadu, the weekend is estimated to bring in more than Rs. 25 crores. Outside of Tamil Nadu, the film had the greatest opening day in Karnataka, grossing Rs. 75 lakhs.

The following is the breakdown of Don's first day box office receipts by territory:

Tamil Nadu - Rs. 7.80 crores
AP/TS - Rs. 50 lakhs
Karnataka - Rs. 75 lakhs
Rest of India - Rs. 20 lakhs

Total - Rs. 9.25 crores
