In the last few years, the number of television shows and films based on podcasts has skyrocketed in Hollywood. Thanks to enormously successful shows like The Joe Rogan Experience and Stuff You Should Know, the audio format has been gradually rising. The accessibility of podcasts in general, as well as the relative ease with which makers may get started, distinguishes the podcast medium.

Many studios have jumped at the possibility to adapt the most successful and fascinating podcast series to other media as a result of the podcast boom. While this isn't exactly fresh or innovative territory, the programs' continuous popularity demonstrates how much people want to see these audio-based experiences come to life.

Podcasts in no time have become one of the favourite places for TV producers and screenwriters to mine good content for their shows and movies.

Here are five podcasts that have already been turned into TV shows and movies.

1 Homecoming

The narrative was a podcast before Julia Roberts entered the Homecoming Transitional Support Center in Amazon Prime Video's TV program Homecoming. It was also not unheard of. With stars like Catherine Keener, Oscar Isaac, and David Schwimmer, Gimlet Media's podcast was already a hit. Heidi Bergman, a caseworker in an experimental facility, is the focus of the episode. The namesake live-in institution promises to rehabilitate and reintegrate US Army troops returning from overseas wars into civilian life. In truth, it causes people to forget about the battle entirely. As a result, rather of purging terrible memories, there is now a blank space. In discussions, calls, and recorded audio, the podcast narrates the narrative.

2 Evil Eye

An Audiobook Evil Eye is one of eight Blumhouse's future cinematic projects developed for Amazon Prime Video, and is scripted by Madhuri Shekar. The film is set to be released next month. The audio recounts a gripping narrative full of twists and turns that will elicit a wide range of emotions, from ecstatic elation to complete horror. There's no ghost or ghoul here; instead, there's something even more terrifying: human depravity. A typical Indian mother is concerned about her daughter who lives in the United States. She is disturbed by the man her daughter ends up adoring since she has been unable to obtain a nice sanskari Indian lad as a match for her despite having all of the astrological information at her disposal. That's all there is to know before diving into this 100-minute adventure. Evil Eye is a must-listen for those with an Audible membership, with fantastic voice performances and a conclusion that will leave you gasping for air.

3 This American Life’s What You Don’t Know episode

The Farewell, directed by Lulu Wang and starring Awkwafina, was inspired by a 2016 episode of the radio show and podcast This American Life titled What You Don't Know. The plot revolves around a Chinese-American family. When the family learns that the matriarch is dying, they decide not to notify her and instead organise a family meeting before she passes away.

4 Serial

Sarah Koenig, a journalist and radio personality, hosts a Peabody Award-winning investigative journalism podcast. Serial is a three-season, 32-episode drama that depicts a true narrative. The first season focused on the death of Hae Min Lee, a Baltimore high school student. HBO modified the season for The Case Against Adnan Syed, a critically praised four-part docu-series.

5 Lore

Lore, which was adapted by Amazon for a TV series of the same name, was created and hosted by Aaron Mahnke and explores the roots of classic horror stories and urban legends, essentially how these myths began. Everything from Bloody Mary to vampires was featured. Lore is based on true events, but it is not a dry account of what happened. Mahnke's narrative is reminiscent of a suspenseful thriller. For example, he saves the most important and exciting disclosures for the conclusion of the program.

6 Archive 81

Archive 81 is a Netflix original series that follows a youthful video archivist as he strives to save decades-old tapes. As his obsession with the lady in the pictures grows, he becomes entangled in the mystery and conspiracies surrounding her disappearance. He is an audio archivist in the original podcast, but the adaptation keeps most of the tale intact. Both tales take a similar approach to how listeners and viewers may get so engrossed and invested in storytelling. As a result, the series functions as a meta-commentary on true crime podcasts and the people who listen to them.

7 Catch And Kill: The Podcast Tapes

Journalist Ronan Farrow has earned a name for himself on a number of occasions but Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes chronicled his search for the truth about Harvey Weinstein's crimes. The podcast was based on taped conversations he conducted while researching and writing his book, Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Predator-Protecting Conspiracy. This is one of the greatest interview-based podcasts because of Ronan's passion to his profession. This true narrative is presented through interviews with hundreds of sources he discovered, and it's made even more fascinating by the threats Farrow experienced throughout his investigation.

8 Dirty John

Dirty John follows Debra, who falls for an attractive doctor, and is based on a true-crime podcast about John Meehan's life. There's more to it than meets the eye, as she's drawn into a diabolical game of psychological manipulation.
If you enjoy suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this is the book for you (but don't come sobbing to us when your sanity fails!).

9 Alex, Inc.

Gimlet Media Inc.'s StartUp was the inspiration for this piece. Alex, Inc. follows Alex, a middle-aged man with a wife and two children, as he makes the risky choice to leave his secure position and enter the wild new world of entrepreneurship.
Alex, Inc., while being canceled after just one season, demonstrates the potential for podcast to TV program conversions.

10 Scream (TV series)

Scream is a serialized anthology series that follows a group of teens who are being stalked by a masked serial murderer (not to be confused with the classic 1990s movies). One of the characters, Piper Shaw, a podcaster, arrives in Lakewood to investigate the recent deaths in the hopes of finding the next big thing for her program.
